one of my favorite things about painting plein air is going to the site with absolutely no set goal of what to paint. i had just set up a composition framing the little island on willow street when i noticed a flock of swallows skimming the waters surface. completly mesmerized, i scrapped my orginal plan and attempted to capture their reflections in flight.

it had just been raining for a week and the vernal ponds were teeming with life. since water comes and goes in the marsh, no two days ever look the same and i wanted to capture how beautiful it looked that very moment.
